Merry Christmas to our 5 readers from the Wright family!

Our Christmas card was designed by my talented lil' sis, Mandy at Mandy Parson Designs aka Simply Fabulous Designs! So it's probably too late to have her do yours...or not. She also does birthday invites, wedding announcements, guestbook designs and everything else. Snatch her up!

Our family photo was taken my our talented friend, Mary. She doesn't have a website or blog (that she actually updates :) so if you are interested in her work I'd be glad to pass on her contact info.

5 minute Christmas Wreath!

So I LOVE LOVE all of the wreaths that I have seen made out of ornaments. I was putting unused Christmas stuff away the other day and saw that I had 2 things of small silver unbreakable bulbs. I had 100 things to do yet I decided to just hurry and make a wreath out of all of those silver bulbs. Generally I would research all of the many tutorials online first but I didn't have 5 hours for that. So I just did my own sloppy version.

I had some 16 gauge galvanized wire so I cut of a fairly large piece. Then I just started threading the bulbs onto it via the little attachment at the top. After getting quite a few on there I decided it needed some color. So I pulled out some of the larger red and green bulbs that I had excess of and popped off the top silver attachments. I then drilled a hole into the opposite side of the ornament so that I could thread the whole thing onto the wire. Remember these are plastic unbreakable ornaments so it was easy to drill into. I really liked what was happening with it.

It really did take me about 5 minutes...ok maybe ten to put this whole thing together. When I reached the end of the wire and a place where the colors looked somewhat evenly spaced I simply twisted the ends together. Well I hadn't really thought the whole thing through so I didn't have a plan to cover the spot where the wire was sloppily attached. Just then my 3 year old game running into the kitchen with a piece of silver ribbon that he had pulled from the Christmas tree, behavior that would normally merit a time out. But it gave me an idea...not a very original one either. I went and got some of that extra silver ribbon and tied a bow to cover it up. I am very proud of my 5 minute project! I have it hanging over my big black garage sale mirror and it looks great. It felt good to do a non painting project too!

Vintage Pom Pom Wreath

After a bit of "blog hopping" tonight I found this AWESOME tutorial on how to create a vintage looking pom pom wreath! You can view the tutorial by checking out Bleubird Vintage.

I love the colors she chose to create her wreath, but I am so busy right now, I don't think I will get to it in time to use fall colors. My plan is to use Christmas colors and create one for my front door. (I will post the completed project!)

Freakie Freebie from Mandy

Alright- who doesn't love a freebie? I know I do! Most of the time, I search blogs for free and fun stuff. Well, today is YOUR lucky day! In hopes to generate a little popularity on the Miss MacMurdy blog these little babies will be FREE for viewers for ONE week. The link will expire on Sunday the 20th so be sure to spread the word.

Melon Days T Shirt

Hi! It's Mandy here. My mother in law is always in charge of the BIG Melon Days Celebration in Green River, UT. She always does a great job planning and getting all of the vendors set up and ready.

This year the theme is "Dancing with the Melons" like "Dancing with the Stars" and she was having a hard time coming up with some ideas of what the T Shirt designs should look like. I decided I could help her out a bit and contacted my cousins son Ty (who is a fantastic artist) to help me out.

He drew the following picture. I think it is GREAT!
In order to make it look better for printing, I editted it in Photoshop and the completed design looks like this...
What do you think? I think it worked out great and helps people get the "Dancing with the Melons" theme a little bit more.

I think I will have Ty draw some more clip art for me to use in some card designs and such. He is awesome!
